Our 16 March membership meeting speaker will be former USAF Maj. Heather Penney, who is currently a defense policy expert at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies in Arlington, VA.  She is best known for her role as a then lieutenant during the 9/11 attacks as one of the two F-16 pilots who scrambled their unarmed jets in an attempt to ram United Airlines Flight 93 before it reached Washington, DC.  Major Penney served two tours of duty in the Iraq War during a military career spanning 1998-2016.  Her father, a retired USAF colonel, served during the Vietnam War, and ironically worked for United Airlines from 1979-2007.

 

The meeting starts with a cash bar from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM. The two entree buffet dinner is served at 6:45 PM.
